Committees

We have several standing committees which meet once or twice a month and oversee a wide variety of initiatives. Two of our Board members serve as co-chairs for each committee. Most people who serve on a committee make a long-term commitment (1 year or more) so they can see the work through to completion. The committees require a combination of people who have expertise or experience in the area and people who have an interest in the topic but might not consider themselves experts. Name: Economic Restructuring Committee
Co-Chairs: Bill Howard, Matt Ulrich
Meets: Meeting dates vary
Work: Focuses on economic issues and opportunities. Oversees task forces on the creation of a Business Improvement District, creating of a Tax Increment Financing District for commercial residential property, zoning reviews, business recruitment and retention, developing a strategy for attracting students to downtown.

Name: Promotions Committee
Co-Chairs: Deanna Pierpan, Heather Wolsey
Meets: Two Tuesdays of each month from 8:30-9:30am 
Work: Plan and host frequent promotional activities to bring visitors downtown. Examples include major events like Arts Fest and smaller events like the Downtown Trick or Treat event. Act as “ambassadors” to a small group of businesses with whom they visit each month to keep businesses informed about what’s happening downtown.

Name: Design Committee
Co-Chairs: Donna Musumeci, Gin Wallace
Meets: 1st Tuesday of each month from 12-1pm
Work: Manage programs that impact the “look and feel” of downtown – lighting, streetscape and landscape, way finding, banners, store beautification program and façade improvement program.
